Run a Wide Tire on your Sportster with our 230/240 wide tire kit. These kits are made for Sportsters years 1991 to 2003 and for models 2004 and up. The kit includes everything you need to install.
Parts include:
- offset transmisson pulley
- outboard transmission drive support with bearing
- belt 1 1/8" wide (2" longer then stock)
- swingarm (2" longer then stock)
- axle (3/4")
- fender struts
- 11 inch rear fender
- 60 spoke wheel (sealed for tubeless tire)
- 230 or 240 Metzeler rear tire
Note:
1) It is recommended that a professional bike builder install this kit.
2) Install time is approx. 14 hours not including paint, stock fender rails will need to be cut off just behind the shock mounts, the new fender rails will be welded on, because of this the kit is not DOT approved.
3) Wheel spacers, pulley spacer, and brake rotor spacer will have to be determined during fitment of the wheel, those items are sold separately.
4) Our kit includes an Outboard Bearing Support (OBS), this is shown mounted in pictures 5 & 6. The OBS is designed to provide additional support on the transmission drive shaft (a 2nd bearing is used at the end of the pulley). Shaft bearing failure is common when using offset pulleys without support. The support comes standard with a machine finish, call for polished or chrome finish. If you prefer not to use the OBS subtract $350 from the kit price (pic 3 shows standard pulley cover). The OBS is 1.5" wider then stock pulley cover, it will require the use of foward controls that have the master cylinder incorporated (see pic 6), the stock master cylinder is not designed to remount. Exhaust pipes may need to be modified to clear the OBS.
5) The kit includes a 60 spoke wheel, pic 3 & 4 show the kit using a Solid Billet Wheel, we can upgrade your kit with any wheel type, call for price and details.

this is a great kit, but it lacks in the instruction portion. letting people know that the new fender struts are to be welded above the shock mounts and step by step pictures of the installation would be a great help. taller shocks are a must also.
Note from Seeger: We will continue to improve the instructions and are available for tech help.
